ABOUT UNLEASH THE ROAR! & THE LEAGUES & COMPETITION TEAM
Unleash the Roar! (UTR!) − is a national movement which aims to raise the levels of Singapore football, build strong support systems to nurture our next generation of talents and rally the nation behind the share dream. It is a long-term, whole-of-society effort covering grassroots development, elite youth pathways, infrastructure and community / fan engagement.
A critical part of UTR!’s development pathway focuses on expanding competitive opportunities. The Leagues & Competitions (L&C) team will be responsible for a variety of leagues, competitions and training camps to ensure that our talented young players have the chances to compete regularly and develop their skills in a high-level, intense competitive environment both locally and overseas.
Reporting to the L&C Team Lead, you be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing primarily the Singapore Youth League (SYL), other local youth competitions and overseas training camps & competitions.
Job Descriptions:
1. Events & Competitions Planning and Coordination:
- Develop comprehensive event, competition & overseas training plans, including objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to understand their vision, goals, and specific requirements.
- Research and recommend venues, vendors, and suppliers that align with needs and budget constraints.
2. Budget Management:
- Create and manage events, competitions & travelling budgets, ensuring all expenses are accounted for and within approved limits.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, venues, and suppliers to obtain the best terms and pricing.
- Monitor and report on budget performance, making adjustments as needed.
3. Team and Vendor Management:
- Lead and coordinate a team of staff, venue managers, volunteers etc., to assign tasks and oversee their execution towards smooth planning & operations.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers, ensuring they deliver as per agreed terms and standards.
- Handle on-site logistics, including setup, teardown, and managing event flow.
4. Stakeholder Relations:
- Liaise with key stakeholders such as clubs, sporting associations, technical officials, sponsors, parents regarding competition matters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.
- Ensure stakeholder's expectations are met or exceeded through effective communication and problem-solving.
5. Logistics and Operations:
- Oversee the logistical aspects of events, competitions & overseas trips, including transportation, catering, equipment, accommodations etc.
- Ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are met for each event.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure all aspects of the events & competitions are in order.
6. Facilities Planning, Operations and Management:
- Work closely with internal divisions and external stakeholders to plan and manage competition facilities such as the Kallang Football Hub (KFH), SportSG’s network of football facilities, Dual-Use-Scheme (DUS) facilities, and explore new facilities.
7. Post-Event, Competitions & Overseas Training Trips Activities:
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present event reports, including attendee feedback, financial performance, and lessons learned.
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders for potential future collaborations.
Requirements:
- Degree and above from sport management, business administration or related field. Renumeration / package will commensurate with candidates’ qualifications and experience.
- More than 5 years of relevant experience in event management for the Senior Manager level (with minimally 1-3 years in supervisory roles with a strong focus on leadership, strategic planning, operational oversight and stakeholder engagement) and 3-5 years of relevant experience for Manager level.
- Detail-oriented and results-driven.
- Strong project management and vendor management skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage risk and ambiguity, define scope, and manage multiple priorities and internal/external stakeholders’ expectations to meet objectives.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels.
- High-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in managing disputes and resolving conflicts effectively.
- Customer service orientation and the ability to provide excellence service to teams / clubs, participants and parents involved in the competitions.
- This job will require some weekend work with time-off provisions.
