About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Specialist to drive innovative solutions within the life insurance industry. You will leverage your expertise in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling to uncover valuable insights from large datasets, enabling data-driven decision-making and business optimization. You will deploy models using the ability to write production ready code. You will utilise a deep understanding of the insurance sector to maximise the value of data and AI meet our business objectives,
Key Responsibilities:
· Data Acquisition and Preparation:
o Collaborate with various teams to identify, collect, and clean large datasets from diverse sources, including policy core systems, claims data, and agent activity systems such as LMS and training data.
o Transform and preprocess data to ensure data quality and consistency, handling missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies.
· Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA):
o Conduct in-depth exploratory data analysis to understand data distributions, relationships, and trends alongside business teams.
o Utilize statistical techniques and visualization tools to identify patterns and anomalies.
· Feature Engineering and Model Development:
o Engineer relevant features from raw data to enhance model performance and interpretability, and deploy features to a feature store.
o Develop and implement advanced machine learning models, such as classification, regression, clustering, causal and time series analysis, to address specific business problems.
o Experiment with various algorithms and techniques to optimize model performance
· Model Deployment and Monitoring:
o Deploy models into production environments using Databricks and Azure DevOps.
o Monitor model performance over time and retrain as needed to maintain accuracy and relevance.
· Business Insights and Recommendations:
o Analyze model outputs and generate actionable insights to optimize business strategies.
o Identify drivers of lapse, cross-sell opportunities, and agent behavior patterns.
o Communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives, product managers, and analysts.
Required Skills and Experience (Must Have):
· Data Science Experience:
o 10+ years of experience as a data scientist.
o Strong proficiency in Python programming language and data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PySpark, DICE)
o Experience in using counterfactual analysis techniques to understand the causal impact of interventions and decisions, specifically DICE.
o Strong expertise in SQL, particularly in working with atomic SQL structures
o Writing production ready code in Databricks
o Experience with Ray and a deep understanding of Spark
o Proven track record in deploying machine learning models into production using Databricks Bundles and Azure DevOps
o Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub or BitBucket
· AU Experience:
o A proven ability to develop GenAI applications
o A solid understanding of vector stores, RAG, base models and fine tuning.
· Industry Experience:
o In-depth understanding of the life insurance industry, including policy core systems, claims processes, and agent dynamics.
o Experience working with large-scale datasets related to policyholder behavior, claims, and agent activity
o Knowledge of key metrics and drivers in the life insurance business, such as persistency, lapse rates, and cross-sell ratios.

o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify complex patterns and trends in data
o Ability to translate business problems into data science solutions
o A curious and innovative mindset to explore new approaches and techniques
· Communication and Collaboration Skills:
o Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
o Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
