About the Role:
DNV Energy Systems is looking for a Principal Consultant, preferably based in Singapore (other offices in APAC will also be considered) to support the Energy Markets & Strategy team within DNV.
The candidate will get the opportunity to work on topics related to energy markets and the energy transition by providing consultancy services to public and private sector customers across the energy value chain. Our client portfolio ranges from governments and regulators to investors, developers and large energy consumers.

This opportunity is within the Energy Systems service area, with over 5,000 consultants and engineers working across the globe. DNV’s Power Grids department provides strategic conceptual, implementation and operational advice on the design, economics and regulation of electricity and renewable energies. Our services are focused on helping our clients navigate the energy transition through forecasting and scenario analysis, the development of decarbonization focused roadmaps, policy and regulatory study and financial feasibility analysis with a focus on low carbon technologies. As a Principal Consultant in our Energy Markets and Strategy business your responsibilities will be cover project delivery, client engagement, internal coordination and between teams and experts. Key activities will include:
- Delivery of consultancy services for our customers in the Asia Pacific region, primarily as the project lead or a key expert. Main topics for project delivery will include:Electricity market modelling
Cross-border power trading
Electricity market regulation
Renewable integration
- Managing relationships with existing clients, and building out our network with potential new clients
- Working with cross-disciplinary and cross-regional teams to deliver projects and proposals
- Strengthen our internal knowledge base through experience sharing and mentoring
About You:

Primary Position Qualifications
- University degree in a technical or related discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Energy Economics, or similar (specialization in power is a plus)
- 10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the Asia-Pacific region
- Understanding of challenges, opportunities and trends in energy markets in the Asia-Pacific region
- Experience as project manager and/or technical lead for energy related projects
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Strong command of the English language
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel abroad (up to 10% of time)
Additional Beneficial Position Qualifications
- Experience with clean energy technologies, e.g. renewables, BESS and hydrogen
- Familiarity with PLEXOS or equivalent energy market modelling software
- Working experience in consultancy
- Understanding of energy economics, regulation, policy and market design
- Experience with the commercial aspects of energy trading, e.g. PPAs or tariff design
- Business development experience
