Senior Flavourist (Asia) [Full-time or Part-time]

Reporting to the Managing Director (Asia), the Senior Flavourist (Asia) based in Singapore is a flavour creation role focusing primarily on the strategic growth segment for the Asia business. The position plays a critical and strategic role in delivering on the region’s growth ambitions by developing winning flavours solutions for our customers and their consumers. The incumbent will work closely with other key stakeholders in ensuring an effective and a “fit for purpose” collections and portfolio.

In addition, s/he will also be responsible for coordinating all strategic creation activities and plans linked to our strategic growth platforms in Asia by working closely with the respective key stakeholders regionally and globally to ensure that we are in a strong position to capture & convert key opportunities with our target & growth accounts. The incumbent will also take the lead in cross region collaboration and working with global colleagues on the transfer of the knowledge, skills, technologies and processes from Centre of Excellence (COE) to the region and vice-versa.

A. Key Responsibilities

  • Work in close collaboration with R&D and Creation teams in delivering on our organisation goals & targets.
  • Take the lead in the region for all key strategic/ Big Bets projects and top tier accounts.
  • Take the lead for new innovation and technologies that will provide innovative solutions to customer and industry challenges.
  • Provide coaching and training to the junior team members.
  • Manage and coordinate all flavour commercialisation activities (from development to scale up/pilot & commercial runs) with key stakeholders (Commercial, Operations, etc) to ensure smooth transition to commercial success.
  • Be the technical expert and expertly develop flavour solutions including flavour duplications, new creations and modifications across a broad range of our flavour core offerings.
  • Utilisation of top-notes, extracts and in-house technology to support development work related to taste modulation.
  • Enters and maintains accurate and thorough formulations with supporting documents & cost awareness from the project.
  • Supports sales and marketing objectives and direct customer interaction in support of existing and new business growth opportunities at target customers.
  • Spends majority of the time involved in flavour creation to meet customer and internal project requests; identifies problems, gathers and interprets significant data to find creative solutions to complex issues. .
  • Utilises good communication skills, both written and oral; deliver presentations to customers, internal colleagues and management.
  • Collaborates with Applications, R&D, Purchasing, Quality, Regulatory, Planning, Production, Marketing, Sales and other department teams to ensure creations meet benchmarks set by customer and are reproducible in the plant.
  • Ensure a safe and professional creation laboratory environment.
  • Maintains across the satellite sites in Asia on the proper creation raw material palette and good creative practices.
  • Networking with creation teams in Europe and Americas.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Required to perform the job)

  • University degree in Chemistry, food science or related area
  • Professionally trained with proper qualifications from recognised global flavour houses
  • Over 7 years in a flavourist role with a proven track record of successful flavour development and launches
  • Background in sweet & dairy creation. Experienced in savoury flavours would be advantage.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial and economic aspects of the business.
  • Clear understanding of sensory and analytical tools
  • Methodical, accurate and flexible approach to work
