Team structure

Virtus Law is a leading Singapore law firm offering commercial, corporate, dispute resolution and financial services across a wide range of sectors. Virtus Law is the successor firm to “Arthur Loke LLP” established in Singapore in 1981 and is part of the Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance.

We are looking for an associate to join our disputes resolution team.

This role will suit an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer with good communication skills who would enjoy the challenge of an exciting and growing practice area.

Main responsibilities

As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to assist in a broad range of disputes in international trade, shipping and general commercial litigation, logistics and dry shipping matters representing owners, insurers, operators, traders and financiers. Drafting commercial contracts related to non-contentious shipping matters and advising on charterparty clause. Advising on regulatory and compliance matters applicable to shipping and transport industries.

Attributes / skills required

  • 2 to 4+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in Shipping Disputes, gained at a reputable mid-tier or top-tier law firm in Singapore
  • Proven court and advocacy experience
  • Strong ability to work independently, with excellent legal drafting, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Capacity to quickly acquire, consolidate, and apply up-to-date legal knowledge
  • Strong passion for dispute resolution, with excellent attention to detail and practical case management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering high-quality work under pressure and within deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels
