We are looking for an experienced and proactive Marine Superintendent for one of our global shipping clients. The Marine Superintendent will play a crucial role in overseeing the safety, quality, and operational efficiency of the company’s tanker fleet. This role involves supervising vessel operations, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and enhancing the safety management system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tanker operations, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Marine Safety & Operations:
- Monitor and supervise vessel navigation to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Develop and issue safety warnings, navigational alerts, and company circulars in collaboration with the Marine Department.
- Analyze incidents and reports, formulating effective corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Provide real-time safety alerts and weather warnings to operating vessels.
- Conduct vessel inspections and office audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Lead safety meetings with ship managers to discuss performance, safety issues, and operational improvements.
Quality Management:
- Review and monitor tank cleaning plans and progress, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Summarize and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) data to drive continuous improvement.
- Suggest and implement improvements to procedures, manuals, and documentation to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
- Stay updated on new marine regulations, safety guidelines, and security requirements issued by regulatory bodies and third parties.
- Prepare and manage company applications for regulatory approvals, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.
Requirements:
- Degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Maritime Academy.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in tanker operations or within a tanker management company.
- Sailing up to the rank of Chief Officer's Certificate of Competency (COC) on tankers; experience with oil/ chemical tankers is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
