Prefer is a Singapore-based food-tech start-up creating bean-free coffee. We do this by fermenting upcycled food waste, recreating the key aroma volatiles of coffee. We offer a more consistent supply, reliable quality, and stable pricing, than conventional coffee agriculture.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Food Production Operator who wants to join us on our journey to create sustainable flavours in F&B applications. The Operator contributes to food production operations by setting up work stations and handling equipment to prepare ingredients, food products and packaging. They adhere to food production requirements, food safety parameters and the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure that the food products are free from contaminants and safe for consumption.
They work in a food production environment and may be required to work in shifts. They should be comfortable to be engaged in repetitive work activities. They work in accordance with the given schedules and is able to operate machinery effectively. They may be required to work in physically demanding work conditions such as long standing hours and extreme hot or cold temperatures. The ideal candidate will have experience in fermentation, such as in beer brewing or food manufacturing.

Responsibilities
- Operate fermentation equipment in scaled-up processes (100 to 500 L)
- Run pre- and post-processing steps, including drying, roasting, mixing, milling
- Collect and analyse data to ensure the quality and safety of the product
- Work with team members and stakeholders to run the facility
- Comply with all safety and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or BSc in Food Science, Fermentation Science, or a related field
- Any professional or home experience in industrial fermentation or food manufacturing
- Strong understanding of fermentation principles and practices
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Innovative, self-motivated, and curious
