Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Floor & Wall Tiler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in tiling work, including installation of floor and wall tiles in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The Tiler will be responsible for ensuring tiles are laid correctly and meet high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tile Installation: Measure, cut, and install tiles on floors, walls, and other surfaces, ensuring precise and even placement.
- Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and smoothing them before tile installation to ensure proper adhesion.
- Layout Design: Plan and create tile layouts for walls and floors, ensuring even patterns and optimal use of tiles.
- Grouting & Sealing: Apply grout between tiles, ensuring even distribution and smooth finish. Seal tiles as required for durability and protection.
- Tool Usage: Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to cut, shape, and install tiles (e.g., tile cutters, wet saws, drills, etc.).
- Quality Control: Inspect completed tiling work to ensure that the tiles are installed properly, aligned, and free from defects.
- Safety: Follow safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and tidy work area and dispose of any waste materials in compliance with company policies.
- Communication: Report progress, challenges, or any material shortages to the Site Supervisor or Project Manager promptly.
- Customer Interaction: Interact with clients when required, addressing any questions or concerns they may have about the tiling work.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in floor and wall tiling, with a proven ability to complete tiling projects to a high standard.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of tiling techniques, including cutting, fitting, and grouting tiles; ability to use tiling tools and equipment efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure that tiles are installed precisely and in line with the design specifications.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting heavy materials.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve any issues that may arise during the installation process.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and adherence to safety regulations and best practices in construction and tiling.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with the team and supervisors, ensuring project requirements are met.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tiling certification or training (e.g., from a recognized trade school or apprenticeship).
- Familiarity with different types of tiles (e.g., ceramic, porcelain, natural stone) and associated installation methods.
- Experience with tile cutting and measuring equipment.
- Basic knowledge of waterproofing techniques, especially for wet areas (e.g., bathrooms, kitchens).
