Job Description
We are looking for a Scientific Partnership and Alliance Manager. The role would be to support the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) in new scientific initiatives with new or existing partners leading to answering grant calls, initiating new scientific consortiums and subsequent management of new scientific alliances.
The job scope will cover the following aspects:
Solicitation, networking and events
- Support the Director in reaching out to partners soliciting interest in partnerships
- Organise networking symposiums and discussion platforms
- Communicate with partners and align with partnership goals
- Match and track partnerships that lead to concrete projects
White paper
- Prepare white papers to launch new initiatives reaching out to partners soliciting interest in partnerships
- Discuss with research partners on contribution, requirements, deliverables and goals
Grantsmanship support, proposal crafting and post-award management
- Support Directors, PIs, and partners with proposal writing and collate preliminary data
- Work on references, editorial and proof reading
- Compile proposals with inputs on budget and CVs (working in partnership with I-FIM's research administrator)
Liaison with funding agencies and NUS Office of Deputy President for Research and Technology (ODPRT)
- Lead discussions with various funding agencies (Singapore and overseas) in securing funding for agreed research initiatives
- Collaborate with NUS and partners in setting up management framework of such research enterprise space
- Lead discussions on establishment of enterprise, space, budgetary matters, scope of research, deliverables and tracking
Management of partnerships that will involve agreements and resource planning
- Support Directors and PIs on agreements and documentation with partners (in collaboration with Admin Director)
- Work on resource planning and pledging on such agreements
- Work with NUS business office and legal counsels in crafting agreements
- Administer implementation of such agreements including reporting, invoicing, payments and cost recovery (where applicable)
Budget management and payment
- Oversee and regularly update equipment and maintenance budget and yearly procurement schedule to ensure timely utilization of allocated funds in every Financial Year of all external grant funding
- Ensure suppliers comply with terms and conditions and stick to committed delivery timelines. Engage with NUS procurement and legal teams on penalizing suppliers for extended delay in delivery.
- Perform grant virement as and when required
Project management
- Track performance of partnerships
- Write reports
- Joint conferences and symposiums
- Spring board to upscale enterprise and/or scope of alliances
Job Requirements
- PhD degree in Materials Science, Engineering or their equivalent from a reputable university
- Have at least 5 years of working experience in research administration and management
- Experience with grant writing and agreements
- Excellent command of English and communication skills
- Strong people skills
