1. Job Purpose
A Barista is responsible for serving hot and cold drinks to customers, preparing food items, ensuring that the area is clean and well-stocked with supplies, and maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
2. Principal Accountabilities
2.1 Preparing and serving coffee, tea, mocktails and other beverages to customers
2.2 Understanding different coffee brewing methods and techniques
2.3 Taking customer orders and providing recommendations
2.4 Preparing food items such as sandwiches, pastries, and cakes
2.5 Keeping the area clean and tidy
2.6 Ensuring that all equipment is clean and in good working order
2.7 Maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for customers
2.8 Responding to customer complaints in a polite and professional manner
2.9 Following health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
3. Communication & Working Relationships
3.1 Proven work experience as a Barista or similar role
3.2 Knowledge of different coffee brewing methods and techniques
3.3 Ability to handle cash and card transactions accurately
3.4 Strong customer service skills
3.5 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
3.6 Excellent communication skills
3.7 Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
3.8 High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality or a related field is a plus
4. Physical Requirements of the job
4.1 Ability to stand for long periods of time
4.2 Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as coffee beans or milk jugs
4.3 Ability to work in a noisy environment
