Position Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Systems and Platform, you will be part of a dynamic IT team responsible for driving the vision and strategy behind Infrastructure Operations and Support. Your role will involve exploring, architecting, leading, and managing the deployment of innovative technologies to transform the data center into a more agile, secure, and operationally efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Trend Analysis & Recommendations: Identify emerging technology trends and issues affecting infrastructure service delivery. Recommend solutions or alternative actions to mitigate challenges and optimize performance.
- Cloud Infrastructure & Security Tools: Design, plan, and implement hybrid cloud infrastructure and deploy tools to meet operational and security requirements, ensuring scalability and security across the organization.
- Capacity Planning & Optimization: Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and optimization of existing infrastructure. Continuously enhance and improve infrastructure and processes for better efficiency and reliability.
- Infrastructure Architecture & Roadmap: Develop infrastructure architecture blueprints and implementation roadmaps. Plan the integration of new systems into existing infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
- Project Leadership & Implementation: Lead technical project implementations, ensuring successful deployment of infrastructure solutions. Manage the transformation of operational practices to align with new business needs and architecture changes.
- Collaboration & Solution Design: Work closely with project teams, business users, and stakeholders to understand IT challenges and business needs. Provide technical solutions that span a wide range of complexity, from simple server setups to complex multi-tier virtualization and hybrid cloud solutions. Ensure these solutions consider regulatory, security, cost, and sustainability factors.
- Procurement & Technical Specifications: Plan procurement schedules, develop technical specifications, and manage procurement activities to ensure timely acquisition of hardware, software, and services.
- Hands-On Technical Expertise: Be technically hands-on, capable of setting up proof of concepts (POCs) and eventually overseeing production implementations and integrations of new technologies.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Plan and oversee the upgrading of infrastructure components and tools.
Qualifications Summary:
- Educational Background: A relevant university degree, with a minimum of 12 years of experience in IT infrastructure, architecture, and solution delivery.
- Experience:Infrastructure Architecture & Leadership: At least 8 years of experience as an infrastructure architect or technical lead, involved in solution design and deployment projects.
- Project Management: Minimum 4 years of experience leading and managing IT infrastructure projects.
- Technical Expertise:Operational & Security Frameworks: Strong understanding of operational and security best practices, including ITIL and ISO27001.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Technologies: In-depth knowledge of cloud computing, network, compute, storage, container management, automation tools, observability platforms, and security tools.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Linux and/or Windows Server Administration.
- Experience with systems, platforms, and database security, automation, and operational tools.
- Expertise in VMware virtualization, public cloud administration, and containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with ITSM and monitoring tools.
- Ability to prioritize technology and service significance based on infrastructure needs, and to define and design the technology stack that meets business objectives.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Other Key Traits:Quick learner with a passion for applying technology to solve business challenges.
- Ability to think strategically, innovatively design infrastructure solutions, and adapt them to meet evolving business requirements.
