CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Colgate Singapore & Export business
- Develop Singapore-specific business strategies and commercial plans, including trade and consumer promotions. Work closely with the hub-based Marketing team to develop consumer and shopper focused advertising, media, and consumption driving plans
- Conduct business analysis to feed into strategy development and robust customer plans and sales forecasts.
- Lead the CP Singapore team in executing the business and commercial plans; delivering in-store excellence that drives sales and market share growth
- Participate as a member of the hub Group Leadership team in all strategic planning and operating meetings
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT:
- Assess the business environment/market, including economic outlook, market trends, customer and competitive strategies
- Direct the development and implementation of strategic planning activities focused on driving category, customer, and brand share growth
- Develop 5P priorities by category/brand, including category management strategies
STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION:
- Operationalize strategic plans, drive commercial agenda with CP Singapore Team, and lead joint business planning meetings with Customers
- Lead CP Singapore Team commercial planning meetings, as well as post-event analysis
- Ensure in-store execution of 5P strategies and merchandising excellence
SYSTEM/PROCESS DEVELOPMENT:
- Lead the commercial team in developing sales forecasts and maintaining accurate master data in the proprietary Colgate Business Planning (CBP) tool.
- In concert with the hub-based Marketing and Finance teams, develop an annual operating budget
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, licensing bodies, financial reporting requirements and other Colgate mandated requirements, including the Colgate-Palmolive Business Practices guidelines and the Colgate-Palmolive Code of Conduct
- Manage the local office and safeguard the physical, financial and human resources of CP Singapore
PROFITABILITY/MARKET LEADERSHIP - PERFORMANCE EVALUATION/OPTIMIZATION:
- Monitor CP Singapore performance and plan execution and recommend course corrections when required
- Set financial and market share targets for the team and hold the team accountable for delivering against the budget and any other KPIs or targets
- Manage the overall profitability of the subsidiary with special focus on optimizing the ROI of trade spend (GTN) and non-variable overheads (NVO)
- Report CP Singapore’s strategic plans, commercial activities & business results to the CP hub Leadership Team / APAC Division and relevant stakeholders
PEOPLE/LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:
- Provide personal leadership, coaching and feedback to the CP Singapore team
- Complete annual performance reviews and work with employees to create Individual Development Plans (IDPs); identify high-performing and high-potential employees and provide career opportunities for growth
- Manage all hiring, in conjunction with the hub-based Human Resources team, and periodically review and prepare recommendations to optimize the organizational structure
STRATEGIC TRADE/PR/EMPLOYEES COMMUNICATION/ACTIVITIES:
- Establish and implement close communication systems among all departments & staff
- Continuously assesses the business environment to establish linkages with related organizations/partners that meets the strategic needs of the organization
- Participate in relevant sales, marketing & PR activities (e.g. market visits, press meetings, events etc)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Business Administration or similar (Master degree preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
- 10-12 years total seniority in sales/marketing/commercial roles
- Minimum 3-5 years Management/leadership experience
- International business/marketing experience is a plus, as is a desire for future mobility with Colgate-Palmolive
- Good understanding of the Singapore market
