The Transport Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing fleet operations, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient delivery of products to customers. Key Responsibilities
- Fleet ManagementOversee a fleet of vehicles, ensuring that they are in optimal working condition through regular maintenance schedules and inspections.
Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and minimize the risk of accidents.
Coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules with service providers to prevent disruptions in delivery schedules.
- Delivery OperationsPlan, manage, and execute daily transport schedules to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
Monitor route efficiency and optimize delivery schedules to reduce fuel costs and improve service times.
Maintain communication with dispatchers and drivers to resolve any operational issues or delays in real time.
- Compliance and SafetyEnforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.
Conduct regular safety briefings and training on defensive driving and road safety for drivers.
Ensure drivers follow standard operating procedures, particularly in handling and transporting sensitive or regulated goods.
Manage accident investigations, incident reporting, and corrective actions in case of road mishaps or equipment issues.
- Team Leadership and DevelopmentLead and support a team of drivers, logistics coordinators, and support staff, providing regular feedback and coaching.
Conduct performance evaluations, set clear goals, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Organize training sessions in areas such as defensive driving, vehicle maintenance, and customer service.
Address behavioral or disciplinary issues, ensuring all team members adhere to company policies and maintain professional standards.
- Inventory and Documentation ManagementOversee loading and unloading procedures to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment.
Ensure that all transport documents, including delivery notes, invoices, and vehicle logs, are accurately maintained.
Track fuel consumption and maintenance expenses, providing reports to management for budget forecasting.
- Customer Service and CoordinationServe as the primary point of contact for any transport-related issues with customers.
Ensure customers are informed of delivery schedules, delays, or changes.
Collaborate closely with warehousing and production teams to ensure product quality throughout the transport process.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Experience: At least 5-7 years in transportation or logistics management, with experience in a logistics or distribution setting.
- Licenses: A Class 3 or 4 driving license is advantageous.
