OPERATIONS MANAGER

Bigfoot Meats Pte. Ltd.

The Transport Operations Manager will oversee the fleet operations and ensure safe, timely, and efficient delivery of processed meats to customers. This role involves managing the logistics team, optimizing fleet performance, and enforcing compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in transportation management, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the meat processing industry's logistics requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management:

  • Oversee a fleet of 24-foot, 14-foot, and 10-foot lorries dedicated to transporting fresh meats.
  • Ensure all vehicles are in optimal working condition through regular maintenance schedules and inspections.
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and accidents.
    Coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules with service providers to avoid delivery disruptions.

Delivery Operations

  • Plan, manage, and execute daily transport schedules to ensure timely and safe delivery of processed meats to customers.
  • Monitor route efficiency and optimize delivery schedules to reduce fuel costs and improve service times.
  • Maintain close communication with dispatchers and drivers to address any issues or delays in real time.

Compliance and Safety

  • Enforce safety regulations and compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and training on defensive driving and road safety for drivers.
  • Ensure drivers follow standard operating procedures, especially regarding the handling and transport of temperature-sensitive products.
  • Manage accident investigations, incident reporting, and corrective actions in case of road mishaps or equipment failures.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead a team of drivers, logistics coordinators, and support staff; provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set clear goals, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate training sessions for defensive driving, vehicle maintenance, and customer service.
  • Address any behavioral or disciplinary issues, ensuring all team members adhere to company policies and uphold professional conduct.

Inventory and Documentation Management

  • Oversee loading and unloading procedures to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment.
  • Ensure that all transport documents, including delivery notes, invoices, and vehicle logs, are accurately maintained.
  • Track fuel consumption and maintenance expenses, providing reports to upper management for budget forecasting.

Customer Service and Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for any transport-related issues with customers.
    Ensure customers are informed of delivery schedules, delays, or changes.
  • Work closely with the warehousing and processing teams to maintain product quality throughout the transport phase.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Experience: At least 5-7 years in transportation or logistics management, preferably in the food or meat processing industry.
  • Licenses: Class 3 or 4 driving license is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Logistics and Fleet Management: Proven expertise in managing fleets, optimizing routes, and reducing transportation costs.
  • Leadership: Strong team management and communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and hold the team accountable.
  • Safety Compliance: Deep understanding of safety standards, including WSH and OSH regulations, and experience implementing safety initiatives.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze logistical challenges and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Ability to manage client relationships with a focus on timely, reliable service.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining records and handling transport documentation.

Work Environment and Schedule

  • Location: Primarily based in the main office, with frequent site visits to warehouse facilities and on the road to oversee operations.
  • Working Hours: Standard office hours with flexibility for on-call duties during weekends or after hours to address urgent transport issues.
