Middle Office/Operations Specialist
We are looking for candidates with exceptional skills and an interest in developing a career in financial services/asset management to gain an in-depth understanding of how the hedge fund industry works. The successful candidate will work closely with our investment team to provide quality operational support to a complex and fast growing hedge fund investment business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Operations: Perform daily trade capture and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in settlement processes.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with both internal teams and external brokers to resolve trade issues by end of day (T+0), ensuring timely resolutions.
- P&L Preparation: Assist in preparing daily P&L reports, as well as finance and accounting-related duties, ensuring financial data integrity.
- Margin Call Management: Research and respond to margin calls from external brokers, maintaining accurate records and responding promptly.
- Payments & Settlements: Oversee and ensure that G10 and onshore payments are released accurately and on time, following operational procedures.
- Month-end: Assist with month-end closing and NAV cut
- Process Improvement: Apply project management and problem-solving skills to develop and implement initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiencies and enhancing risk controls in response to regulatory changes.
- System Enhancements: Collaborate with internal and external teams to design and implement front-end to back-end system improvements. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and system configuration as needed.
- Static Data Management: Configure and maintain static data to ensure seamless integration across systems.
- Ad-Hoc Responsibilities: Take on a range of day-to-day operational duties as required by the team.
Qualifications / Ideal Profile:
- 3-5 years of experience working in operations or middle office functions, ideally within a buy-side firm.
- Strong understanding of trade capture, lifecycle management, settlement, reconciliation, and margin call processes.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Coding skills in VBA, Python, or other programming languages are highly preferred, with a strong ability to automate processes and work with data.
- Experience with Azure SQL database management is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge communication gaps between trading and technology teams.
- Experience or familiarity with financial derivatives will be an advantage.
- Proficient in office IT software, including Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- A willingness to learn and support a range of business management activities, including investment, research, finance, operations, and compliance.
