Lecturer/Assistant Professor - Game Development and Project Management
The Department of Game Software Design and Production is seeking an applicant with expertise in current game/project management, and the ability to assist in teaching game/simulation-based project courses.
We are primarily looking for someone with experience as a project manager in the game development or software development industries. A proven track record of planning projects, assessing risks and opportunities, creating budgets, communicating with stakeholders, troubleshooting problems and resolving obstacles to project completion.
This position is offered at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor.
NOTE: This position can be part-time or full-time depending on a candidate’s level of interest and personal commitment.
Start date: Immediate until the position is filled
Location: This position is onsite at the DigiPen Institute of Technology campus in Singapore.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Teach team-based courses in game/simulation design (2D and/or 3D) with a focus on project management.
- Grade, review and critique student team project-based work as well as design guidance as required in the course
- Prepare and update Excel spreadsheets, rubrics and other documents for the purposes of tracking student team progress.
- Engage in advising and mentoring students in a 1 on 1 and team setting
- Lecture and teach in classroom and/or lab settings
Qualifications / Competencies
Required
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, or a terminal degree, and knowledge within the game/simulation industry
- Strong grasp of Excel, Jira, Asana and/or other PM tools common in the game dev and software dev industries.
- Strong understanding of team dynamics, team organization, and team communication
- Ability to provide quality feedback, practical work solutions, and instruction in project management
- Experience in collaborating with other disciplines beyond design – programmers, artists, marketing etc.
- Working knowledge of a broad range of game/simulation design tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (but not required)
- Experience with 2D and/or 3D art production
- 6+ years of software industry experience including technical and/or production lead positions with the ability to apply the skills of the area of specialization
- Management experience in PC games, mobile games and/or VR/AR.
- Demonstrated experience working on game or application titles across various platforms and/or media
- Teaching or other professional public speaking experience, including professional talks or panels at conferences, conventions, or events
Salary
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and education.
