What You'll Do

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Trade Compliance Screening Analyst to join Cisco's Legal team within the Trade Legal and Compliance (TLC) team. TLC oversees global trade regulations and compliance. We seek a curious, creative teammate who will:

  • Conduct due diligence and lead sanctions and export controls screening for Asia Pacific (APAC) based transactions, including denied party, location, and end-use/end-user screening for various sales, service, and other transactions.
  • Validate appropriate export authorizations (licenses or exceptions) for transactions, conduct due diligence, monitor internal tools to ensure compliance, and determine when to bring up to senior management and/or trade counsel.
  • Represent the TLC team in developing and maintaining relationships with internal business teams and senior leaders in the APAC region to understand, educate, and implement business support in line with regulatory requirements and Cisco policies.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of screening procedures, reports, and systems to identify risks or deficiencies and ensure the effectiveness of our compliance screening program.
  • Support ongoing adoption and implementation of new and/or updated screening tools, including technology software and systems, trade compliance training programs, and process development.
  • Stay updated with regulatory changes related to sanctions screening and business transaction monitoring.

Who You’ll Work With

You will collaborate with Cisco business, product, and sales teams to enable and ensure trade compliance throughout our supply chains. You will work cross-functionally with various sales and service teams and directly with customers. Our distributed team consists of diverse Global Trade Compliance Legal and Trade professionals who embrace new ways of thinking to help Cisco deliver products compliantly.

Who You Are

The successful candidate will have:

  • Deep understanding of U.S. sanctions regulations (geographic and list-based), EU and UK sanctions regulations, the BIS Entity List, and other applicable denied party regimes and associated risks and prohibited activities.
  • Knowledge of export license requirements, including end use and end-user restrictions such as the military end use/user (MEU) rule and supercomputer and semiconductor end use restrictions.
  • Ability to conduct due diligence and open-source research in Mandarin.
  • ACAMS, ECTI, or similar sanctions and export controls certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience reviewing sanctions screening alerts, including record keeping of analysis and alert disposition.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning screening software tools (e.g., Oracle Global Trade Management, Global Trade Solution).
  • Experience with export/sanctions operations in APAC, ability to explain regulatory requirements and compliance risks to the business, and develop and maintain relationships with key business customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong project management and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance quality of work with deadlines in a fast-paced, results-oriented culture.
  • Ability to identify risk issues affecting work progress and recommend solutions.
  • Experience collaborating closely with virtual teams and cross-functional customers.
  • A minimum of a BA/BS and 5 years' experience or a master's or equivalent experience and 3 years' experience delivering dynamic, business-minded solutions within trade compliance, law, supply chain, and/or logistics, along with strong knowledge and experience developing processes related to trade (export & import) regulations.

Why Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, and we bring our talents to work as a team to power an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital transformation, helping our customers implement changes in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software and security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns, and protects. No other company can do what we do.

But “Digital Transformation” is just a buzzword without a culture that fosters innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it).

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA). We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world-changing? Be you, with us!

But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, we give our egos a break and we give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, we take bold steps, and we take the difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.
