COMPANY DESCRIPTION
THKMC was incorporated on 13 October 2011 as a charity to provide multiple social and welfare services to the community at large, and achieved an Institute of Public Character (IPC) status on 18 November 2011. THKMC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission To Serve Mankind to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed and culture. THKMC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors' Community, and Therapy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.
Reports directly to the Assistant Director (Social Work & Psychology)
Role
To oversee the Social Work and Psychology Department in their assigned centre(s) and work towards achieving the Centre's mission and vision by having close partnership with the Therapy Department, Teaching Department, Administrative Department and families of the children.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Overseeing the SW & Psychologists in their respective centres
- Enhance the quality of Social Work and Psychology services through professional development of the Social Workers and Psychologists
- Ensure that key stakeholders like parents are well managed and are satisfied with the programme
Supervision
- Supervise SWs, CWs, Psychologists and Psychologist Associates to provide quality case management
- Conduct annual performance appraisals for the SWs, CWs and Psychologists
- Orientate new SW/ Psychologists in their respective centres to the Centre's ethos and processes and their job scope
Process and Resources Management
- Ensure the smooth running of all related processes of Social Work and Psychology services in the respective centre
- Enforce and maintain consistent processes and practices of SW and Psychology across different SWs/ CWs and Psychologists in the respective centre
- Assign cases referred from SG Enable to SW/ CW
- Manage manpower matters including covering duties, leave applications
- Ensure that the student enrolment at the respective centre is meeting full capacity
- Ensure timely submissions of statistical reports by the respective centre to Government agencies for funding purposes
- Ensure that the centre passes the yearly muster audits and various audits conducted by Government agencies
- Minimum Degree or Post Graduate Qualifications in Social Work
- More than 5 years of working experience as a Social Worker
- Mature, independent, creative, flexible thinking and able to motivate staff
- Good people skills
- Able to work independently
- Has strong understanding of the diverse cultures and races
- Has patience, love, passion & commitment in the education of & nurturing young children and empowering the families
