Morgan McKinley is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join our client’s dynamic network operations team. Our client, a leading multinational social media technology company, offers an opportunity to enhance the efficiency and reliability of one of the world’s most fast-paced networks.
This role is for a 12 month contract assignment with a possibility to extend or be converted to perm!
Job Description:
- Support operations for the company’s large-scale network infrastructure, including internet infrastructure (CDN or IAAS) or large IXSP internet network.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of complex technical issues across networks, addressing everything from automated tools to hardware failures and network problems.
- Identify potential operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate or minimize them.
- Enhance escalation and emergency response procedures, ensuring comprehensive postmortems to prevent future issues.
- Manage escalations to closure, leading investigations across various domains and functional teams.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Traffic, Logistics, Program Management, and OEM partners to achieve outstanding operational results and oversee external vendor performance.
- Participate in the on-call rotation with the global operations team.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- With 4+ years of relevant experience in network operations, supporting large-scale network infrastructure.
- Extensive internetworking experience with a large ISP internet network, CDN/Edge network, and handling at least Tier 2 escalations.
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv6, L3 Switching, BGP, packet capture and analysis, and protocol session communication (TCP/UDP/HTTP).
- Intermediate knowledge of Linux systems, DNS, HTTP, and server hardware.
- Understanding of power and cooling in large data centers.
- Proficiency in data-driven analysis on large-scale data sets to identify problems and root causes.
- Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and repair systems for production networks in a DevOps environment.
- Scripting and/or coding experience in languages such as Python or Go for monitoring, alerting, or provisioning.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CNIE, A+, Sec+) are a plus.
- Proven ability to work within a global team, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
