What is this role?
The Network Engineer role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in ITIL and ServiceNow, and the ability to work independently. Responsibilities include 24/7 support as needed, incident resolution, and task prioritisation under pressure.
You should have experience in deploying and maintaining various branded enterprise network products, project and vendor management, and network security. In addition, the role involves technical documentation, firewall deployment, and addressing security vulnerabilities, with a basic understanding of servers and virtualisation.
Work is on-premise. The role is a one-year contract with option to renew for a MNC, based in customer premise.
What you can expect to do?
- Provide 24/7 support as needed and participate in on-call duties
- Offer third-line support for incident and problem resolution
- Prioritise tasks effectively in high-pressure environments
- Manage projects and vendors efficiently
- Conduct presentations
- Support, maintain, and deploy network equipment like Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto etc.
- Utilise network scripting and process automation
- Monitor network performance and adhere to configuration policies and standards
- Develop technical documentation using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Handle structured cabling technologies and data center methodologies
- Deploy, maintain, and support large-scale firewalls
- Address security vulnerabilities and interact with TAC for case escalations
- Mount and unmount network products and carry weighted equipment
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
What are we looking for?
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of ITIL framework and IT service management, ideally with ServiceNow experience
- Ability to work independently and provide 24/7 support
- Proficient in prioritising tasks and resolving incidents under pressure
- Capable of project management and vendor management
- Confident public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities
- Hands-on experience with networking devices like Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, etc.
- Knowledge of network scripting, process automation, and security protocols
- Experience in structured cabling and data center methodologies
- Proficiency in technical documentation using tools like Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Basic understanding of servers, including Wintel, Linux, and virtualisation environments
