Job Title: Storage Engineer

Job Overview
The Storage Engineer will be responsible for managing, administering, and troubleshooting storage systems and enterprise backup solutions in a 24x7 operational environment. The role focuses on working with storage technologies like HP Nimble and Dell Storage to ensure high availability, performance, and data protection for critical business systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Storage Management
- Install, configure, and maintain Storage Area Networks (SAN) and enterprise backup solutions.
- Perform health checks, monitoring, and troubleshooting for HP Nimble and Dell Storage devices to ensure optimal availability and performance.
- Integrate storage solutions (including HP Nimble and Dell storage arrays) into customer IT infrastructures, ensuring seamless interoperability.
- Perform firmware updates and necessary system upgrades for storage devices.
- Maintain detailed documentation for storage configurations, maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Manage disk partitioning and Logical Unit Number (LUN) assignments (create, modify, or delete LUNs).
- Actively monitor and manage multiple storage subsystems for optimal performance and reliability.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning for HP Nimble and Dell Storage arrays.
- Troubleshoot zones and switch-related issues for SAN environments.
- Administer and manage security configurations within the storage subsystems.
2. Backup Solutions Management
- Administer Symantec Backup environments and manage enterprise backup solutions.
- Schedule and configure backup jobs, ensuring data protection and integrity.
- Optimize backup server performance and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
- Quickly resolve backup-related issues to minimize potential data loss.
- Perform capacity planning for tape libraries and backup servers to support growing data needs.
3. Disaster Recovery (DR)
- Plan and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies for critical systems, ensuring quick and reliable recovery.
- Verify successful recovery of production or DR servers after DR exercises.
4. Storage Solution Implementation
- Collaborate with customers to integrate HP Nimble and Dell Storage solutions into their infrastructure.
- Prepare test plans and perform functional checks to validate that storage systems meet customer requirements.
5. Additional Duties
- Provide second- and third-level support for advanced storage issues, particularly with HP Nimble and Dell Storage solutions.
- Assist with data center shutdown activities and recovery operations as needed.
Requirements
Education
- Recognized Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business IT, or related fields.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managing Enterprise Backup Solutions and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
- Hands-on experience with:HP Nimble Storage: Administration, troubleshooting, and configuration.
Dell Storage: Working with arrays, SAN systems, etc.
- Additional experience with:IBM V3700 and V7000

- Experience with storage replication, backup configurations, and conducting DR exercises.
- Proficiency in power cycling storage devices and upgrading SAN switches.
