Job Responsibilities:
CURRICULUM
Ø Observes and evaluates the environment to make necessary modifications where necessary to meet the needs of the children.
Ø Plans and creates indoor and outdoor learning environments that are intentionally designed to meet curriculum goals and learning outcomes.
Ø Evaluates and ensures that the use of materials and equipment meet programme goals and centre philosophy.
Ø Collaborates with colleagues and families to modify and implement changes to the schedules according to children’s needs.
Ø Develops programme schedules that meet children’s needs and support smooth transition.
Ø Provide guidance to staff on responsive and sensitive engagement in their interactions with children and activities.
Ø Guide staff to use specific references when giving praise, encouragement and acknowledgement.
Ø Evaluate the implementation of curriculum by staff.
CONNECTING WITH FAMILIES
Ø Reviews and adjust home-school programme to better meet family’s needs.
Ø Develop and implement family programmes through constant feedback and evaluation.
Ø Reviews and evaluates the various conflict resolution strategies used, and shares information with colleagues.
Ø Employ strategies to build networks among families in the centre and community.
Ø Develops a mentoring programme for staff to deal effectively with all types of families.
CENTRE OPERATIONS
Ø Support the implementation of the Child Care Act and Regulations, Licensing Instrument, Early Years Development Framework and any other initiatives that apply to improving programme and facilities.
Ø Implement quality standard for ECCE programme in centre.
Ø Handle centre tour; operation portion
FINANCE
Ø Assisting in budgeting of centre’s income and expenditure.
Ø Know the requirements such as fees, subsidy.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ø Fire extinguishers are functional at all times.
Ø Toiletries (eg. Liquid soap and toilet paper) and hand drying facilities are available and easily accessible.
Ø Proper maintenance and ensure all levels of administration of medicine forms are up-to-date. Documents must be available for inspections at all times.
Ø Liquid hand soap and hand-drying facilities / paper towels are available and within easy reach of children. Posters of proper hand washing procedures are prominently displayed at children’s eye-level near the hand washing area.
Ø Maintains records for daily health checks for children upon their arrival.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Ø Participate in mentoring peers and other colleagues.
Ø Induction programme for new staff and colleagues on centre’s policies and procedures.
Ø Facilitate exchange of professional ideas for discussion among colleagues.
Ø Influences staff to join in efforts for continuous improvement and change.
Ø Participates in hiring processes.
Ø Conduct assessment of staff to identify ways to maintain a positive organisation climate and work environment.
Job Requirements:
Ø Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education with DPL
Ø Creative and inspiring with loving energy
Ø Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Ø Be familiar with all working curriculum documents, handbooks and policy manuals.
Ø Knowledge in educational development / cognitive psychology
Ø Bilingual in English & Chinese
