School of Art, Design and Media is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Assistant.
As a Product Designer, you will play a critical role in creating 3D wearable prototypes. You will lead design projects from concept to completion, creating product prototypes in close collaboration with the project manager. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of design principles, and best practices, materials, and manufacturing techniques, with a passion for creating unique products.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and define a 3D wearable product based on specific requirements.
- Conduct user research, analyzing user feedback and usage data to identify key opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.
- Responsible for digitally visualizing design concepts and user interactions and/or creating 3D mock-ups and prototypes via renderings.
- Prepare technical drawings and specifications for production and communicate with manufacturers and suppliers for product execution.
- Understand best practices and emerging technologies by applying new learnings to the assigned work.
- Be able to make decisions on sustainable materials and finishing of the design proposals.
- Lead the end-to-end design process for new products, from concept ideation to final production.
- Develop detailed sketches, 3D models, and prototypes for wearables.
- Select appropriate materials to achieve desired aesthetics, functionality, and quality standards.
- Manage project timelines and milestones, ensuring all design projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Fine Art or Bachelor Degree in product design, demonstrating a track record of delivering impactful physical products or features from concept to launch, or graduates with a focus on product design skills.
- Exceptional visual design skills with a proven track record.
- Proficiency in prototyping tools to effectively demonstrate design concepts and user interactions.
- Experience in conducting user research and translating research insights into product features that had a proven impact
- Strong communication skills and independence.
- Capability of articulating design decisions clearly and effectively.
