Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Tax Manager to plan and implement the organization’s tax strategies, optimizing the Group’s tax payables and ensuring compliance with relevant local and international tax laws and regulations. This role involves managing tax operations for both upstream and downstream Business Groups across multiple regions, including Malaysia, Singapore, China, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Operations Management:
- Collaborate with the Senior Tax Manager to oversee Group’s tax operations, consolidating tax issues from onshore entities managed by respective onshore Tax Managers.
- Ensure compliance with taxation laws and regulations, including timely and accurate tax filings and payments, while adopting appropriate tax positions.
- Compliance and Advisory:
- Manage relationships with external service providers for direct and indirect tax compliance, transfer pricing compliance, and tax accounting services.
- Lead annual tax budget planning and preparation with the respective Head of Finance.
- Review and compile VAT forecasts, monthly withholding tax returns, and consolidated tax payment reports.
- Oversee corporate income tax and deferred tax calculations for offshore companies for annual audits.
- Prepare the annual GTP survey report and monitor GTP covenants compliance.
- Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Provide tax advisory support to business units and support functions, collaborating with Legal, Treasury, Finance, and Accounting teams to meet strategic and operational tax objectives.
- Support major M&A transactions and other strategic initiatives as part of the Corporate tax team.
- Legislation and Risk Management:
- Manage tax legislation and controversy developments, driving lobbying efforts and communicating legislative and judicial changes to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with Group tax controls and procedures, working collaboratively within a globally integrated tax function.
Requirements:
- At least 12+ years of relevant tax experience, with a focus on tax operations.
- Strong background in corporate income taxes, income tax accounting, indirect taxes, and transfer pricing.
- Experience in a multinational enterprise and Big 4 experience is preferred.
- Strong business acumen, commercial outlook, and risk awareness.
- Hands-on approach with attention to detail and flexibility.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage laterally with tax colleagues from different jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with tax regimes and DTA treaties in the Asian region, China, UAE, and Europe.
- Excellent communication skills in Mandarin are required to support the China market and liaise with Mandarin-speaking internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the palm oil or plantation or manufacturing industry is advantageous.
- SAP system knowledge is an added advantage.
