About the Role
Started in 1935, Tamil Murasu is Singapore's only Tamil language newspaper. Tamil Murasu is the main information source for the Tamil-speaking Indian community with its coverage of wide-ranging news, from current affairs to local and foreign news as well as the latest in sports and entertainment, in addition to its strong coverage on news from the Indian community and the sub-continent. The newspaper has established itself as a voice for the Tamil-speaking community in Singapore.
As a Video/Photojournalist, you would be required to shoot stills and videos for our multimedia platforms. You will come up with concepts and produce videos for web and mobile platforms, and also capture newsworthy events and people through the lens to make news reports more interesting. You may be expected to present or do voice overs in the videos they produce.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with journalists and/or alone on news content assignments
- Conceptualize, write script and produce videos
- Post and manage all videos for publication on various media platforms, including social media.
- Shoot and edit videos and photos
Job Requirements
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Video Production, Journalism, or any relevant fields
- At least two years of relevant experience.
- Ability to set up, light, write, shoot, appear as host and produce video packages.
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to produce quality work in a fast paced environment.
- Well-organised and a self-starter, capable of managing multiple projects.
- Experience in social media platforms and management systems
- Effectively bilingual (English/Tamil) to be able to cater to the Tamil Murasu audience.
- Willingness to work on weekends/public holidays
