Project Engineer (Walk-to-Work Systems)

Responsibilities:


  • Reports directly to the Project Director/Manager overseeing the WTW system.
  • Project Support: Provide technical expertise to guide the design, development, and construction phases of the WTW system.
  • Coordination: Liaise with WTW system designers, vendors, and fabricators. This includes reviewing drawings, sourcing equipment, managing costs, and updating project schedules.
  • Project Execution: Ensure that the project aligns with defined objectives and requirements. Responsibilities include monitoring schedules, sourcing and recommending vendors, evaluating purchases and costs, allocating resources, responding to inquiries, clarifying technical details, supervising execution, implementing corrective measures, conducting Factory Acceptance Tests, and preparing as-built documentation.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify and resolve issues in deck machinery by utilizing technical manuals, as well as hand and power tools.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all modifications, maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Procedure Development: Create operational, maintenance, and safety protocols for the WTW system.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine industry or shipyard environment.
  • Solid understanding of deck machinery, including winches, cranes, lifting, and handling equipment, as well as familiarity with IACS regulations, particularly ABS, DNV, and BV standards.
  • Experience with the WTW system (Offshore Passenger Transfer System) is a plus.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical principles, hydraulics, electrical systems, and P&ID, with proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, with knowledge of structural design as an added advantage.
  • Teamwork: Able to collaborate effectively with team members across all levels.
  • Communication: Proficient in Mandarin and English, with the ability to communicate clearly with team members, vendors, fabricators, and clients.
  • Capable of producing written reports and presentations in English, with Mandarin proficiency for these tasks as a plus.
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office, PowerPoint, MS Project, Adobe, and AutoCAD. Experience with Primavera scheduling software is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with document control processes and ISO 9001:2015 QAM system knowledge is a bonus.
  • Willingness to travel and work in marine and offshore environments.
