Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop a Japanese language curriculum that aligns with the school's academic framework and the needs of international students.
- Create engaging lesson plans tailored to students' age, proficiency levels, and learning styles (beginner to advanced).
- Teach Japanese language classes to students of various age groups and levels, that covers reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods (eg., interactive activities, multimedia, tools.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Focus on the development of core language skills, such as grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and pronunciation.
- Provide students with practical language experience, encouraging conversation practice and real-life language use.
- Prepare and administer assessments, quizzes, and exams to evaluate students’ language proficiency and progress.
- Provide constructive feedback on student performance and work with students to overcome learning challenges.
- Keep detailed records of student achievements, ensuring alignment with the school’s grading and reporting standards.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves in Japanese.
- Manage classroom behavior, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and respectful during lessons.
- Foster a collaborative atmosphere, encouraging group work and peer-to-peer learning.
- Encourage language practice outside of the classroom by recommending Japanese books, films, and online resources.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods, tools, and trends in language education, especially in the context of teaching Japanese as a second language.
- Participate in school-wide events, such as international days, language fairs, or cultural festivals, showcasing Japanese culture.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and grades in line with school policies
Requirements
- At least 1 year experience in a teaching role within the international school or related education sector.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a team.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Japanese customs.
- Proficiency is office software (Microsoft office, Google Workspace, etc.)
