Reporting to Technical & Planning Department Manager, this position will provide technical and process safety support for the manufacturing process to ensure production complies strictly with Company’s quality & safety standards and environmental regulations. This role will also be in charge of performing investigation to identify root causes for plant troubles and implement countermeasures and driving plant optimization initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee plant performance, issue operating instructions, conduct root cause analysis, investigate process failures, and recommend appropriate solutions or corrective actions.
- Coordinate Safety Case activities and liaise with other departments to ensure completion of all follow up actions.
- Lead HAZOP studies and other process safety assessments
- Handle raw materials and utility consumption analysis and efficiency improvement drive, which include managing evaluation meetings and following up on action plans and other operational tasks.
- Plan and conduct trial production for new products or raw materials, and initiate optimization ideas for process and process safety improvements
- Perform technical and process safety studies and share knowledge with other team members
- Conduct training for Plant members and in-house contractors
- Coordinate Management of Change and support plant investment projects such as budget planning, monitoring project progression and scheduling project meetings
- Maintain and improve Integrated Management System such as developing standard operating procedures and maintaining proper certification and documentation.
- Anticipate potential operational issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Promote continuous development and implementation of improvement ideas to enhance manufacturing competitiveness level
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer with 7 to 12 years or Bachelor’s Degree in the same discipline with 9 to 14 years of relevant working experience in Chemical Engineering in a polymer plant
- Strong leadership and communication skills and effective team player
- Self-motivated, independent and resourceful
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge in HAZOP, Risk Assessment, DCS, ISO standards would be advantageous
- Proficient in Japanese language as the role is required to liaise with counterparts and understand the Company policy and standards from Japan Headquarters
- Able to perform overtime work when required
- Willing to work in Jurong Island
- Overseas travelling is required
