Manager, Corporate Affairs - South East Asia & Korea

Purpose of role: This role is to build and protect the reputation of IHG, as a business partner, in South East Asia & Korea and manage internal communications across EAPAC.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for building and maintaining the reputation of IHG in South East Asia and Korea, specifically in Thailand and Malaysia.
  • Manage corporate affairs activity in South East Asia across five key pillars (external, internal, owner, corporate responsibility, public affairs) to support the Division’s ambition.
  • Deliver external trade/business media activity such as writing media releases and briefing books, and organizing events and interviews. Includes working with local market agencies, where relevant.
  • Support the profiling of leadership and growth teams externally including interviews, owner communications, industry events.
  • Provide counsel to leaders & functional teams on communications approach– supporting, managing expectations and education as necessary.
  • Issues and crisis management support for our hotels and the business in Thailand and Malaysia.
  • Develop and deliver EAPAC specific internal communications approach to support the BU priorities and aligns with the global Elevate strategy while aligning with Division specific internal communications activities. This includes ownership of EAPAC channels and content development for the BU.
  • Supporting the Head of Corporate Affairs EAPAC with content creation, events, advocacy as required.
  • Providing support to the GCA EAPAC team as appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with the EMEAA team on specific projects or initiatives.
  • Manage admin and processes within the SEAK GCA team including media coverage reports and ensure we use our budget to the greatest effect.

Education:

  • At least 7 years’ experience in external/internal communications.

Experience:

  • Experience of managing agencies and budgets.
  • Experience of working within a complex business with a range of stakeholders with different needs and interfacing with senior people.
  • Experience of the media landscape in South East Asia would be an advantage
  • Experience working with international brands would be an advantage

Requirements and Knowledge:

  • Is confident, credible and compelling when working with senior stakeholders.
  • Able to engage and inspire with energy and belief in communications.
  • Ability to stay calm in a crisis situation.
  • Collaborative approach and partnership mind set - able to build strong relationships and be known as a trusted advisor
  • A can-do attitude, with a track record of delivering complex programmes of work. Demonstrates an ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks in a demanding, fast-paced work environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across a matrix / virtual team.
  • Ability to manage budgets.
  • Clear and confident written and oral communication skills.
