Asia Research and Engagement (ARE) brings the voice of investors in support of solutions to Asia’s sustainable development challenges. We assemble coalitions of investors to address strategic sustainability issues, using dialogue and shareholder escalation tools to shift the mindsets of senior decision-makers across finance and industry.
ARE has a team of highly motivated professionals across a range of backgrounds and disciplines. Our expertise includes running investor backed engagement programmes and producing high grade research on sustainability themes and management by Asian listed companies.
We work on energy, food, and financial systems, setting out the case for change at a range of banks, power, steel and food companies across South-East Asia, China, Japan and India.
The role of Research Editor will support all ARE programmes by crafting compelling report content that informs and engages our audiences while ensuring accuracy and clarity. ARE produces research and technical insights for investors and we need a strong Editor to bring that data to life, taking great ideas and analysis and writing them in a thought provoking and compelling fashion.
The ideal candidate will specialise in energy systems research and/or financial journalism, have a strong background in finance or economics, a passion for sustainability, and exceptional writing and editing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the the editorial process for reports, publications and writing projects to support the research teams with content on sustainability and investment trends, economic analysis, and relevant policy developments.
- Develop and curate content from internal and external research reports and insight pieces, transforming complex data into compelling narratives including in graphical and visual form.
- Collaborate with economists, researchers, and other internal or external stakeholders to develop comprehensive and insightful publications, high level thought leadership and industry knowledge.
- Edit and proof read materials to ensure high standards of clarity, accuracy, and adherence to our editorial guidelines.
- Review of Communications to Funders and other external audiences.
- Mine and verify existing data from reports to identify and craft key insights and tactical pieces while fact-checking to maintain the integrity of all published content.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability, investment and economic research.
- Engage with readers and stakeholders through various channels to promote content and gather feedback.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Journalism, or a related field; post graduate degree level is preferred.
- Proven experience as a writer and editor, preferably in finance, economics, or a related field such as academic or policy-oriented writing.
- Strong understanding of investment principles and economic research methodologies as well as familiarity with data analysis and financial modelling.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Expertise in creating visually engaging and informative data presentations to effectively convey complex technical analytics.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts for a diverse audience.
- Proficient in using content management systems and editing tools and technology platforms (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs, SharePoint, PowerPoint etc).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple written projects and deadlines.
