Job Description
- Provision of withdrawal support, specialized remediation, and implementation of Individual Education Plans.
- Provision of in-class support for special needs students in areas such as (but not limited to): reminding and prompting the student to stay on-task, pay attention to teachers and participating in classroom activities
- Provide consultation to teachers and parents to facilitate better understanding of the students’ needs and how to support them.
- Set up and maintenance of special needs-friendly classroom/school environments.
- Preparation of teaching and learning resources for use with students (e.g. visual prompts for mild ASD students, differentiated worksheets for students with dyslexia).
- Provision of skills training (e.g. organisational skills, managing anger, handling changes, queuing up, handwriting skills).
- Provision of peer training and support (e.g. setting up circles of friends).
- Provision of feedback to teachers and parents on the needs and progress of the special needs students.
- Collaboration with external professionals/agencies and special schools in the support of special needs students.
- Co-ordination and contribution to case conferences in schools.
- Set up and maintenance of records on special needs students.
- Conduct pre-orientation for students with ASD to help them familiarize with the school environment and the new changes around the school (eg. Change of classroom, change of class name and teachers).
- Trained in administration of progress monitoring tools.
Job Requirement
- Diploma in Special Education
- 3 years of similar working experience in MOE mainstream schools to support students with/ suspected of SEN
- 3 years of experience in conducting School-based Dyslexia Remediation (SDR)
