Empyrion Digital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Backend System - Automation/Process to join our growing team.
About the Role
In this leadership role, you will play a pivotal role in building and optimizing our data center's backend systems. You will be responsible for designing and implementing a Building Management System (BMS), selecting and integrating a CRM/ERM system with our global operations, and managing a technical team as the projects scale. You will collaborate effectively across various departments, including engineering, global support, sales, and finance, to ensure seamless operations within our data centers located in the APAC region.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop a backend system to:
- Identify and prioritize critical messages from logs and data generated by electrical and mechanical systems in the data center.
- Provide real-time performance metrics for our data centers, including PUE, WUE, and other relevant indicators.
- Lead the development of a standardized BMS system for Empyrion and its integration with the chosen CRM/ERM software.
- Manage project scope, timelines, and communication with cross-functional teams, such as data center operations, engineering, finance, and sales.
- Spearhead solutions for operational challenges across our multi-data center environment in the APAC region, including unexpected system responses, design issues, and equipment failures.
- Oversee and secure our automation/controls compliance program.
- Foster collaboration among SMEs and other teams to investigate technical issues and develop solutions throughout the data center lifecycle.
- Provide leadership and support for root cause analysis of unplanned events.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to offer technical expertise for facility retrofit and modernization projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum:
- 10+ years of technical experience developing software in on-premise or cloud environments.
- Proven experience with complex systems, such as Building Automation systems, capacity planning systems, auto-scaling/descaling systems, or other automation/control systems.
- Solid understanding of data center operations and general environment.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems, analyze data, and identify root causes.
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Preferred:
- Four-year technical degree in engineering or a related program.
- Prior experience in data centers or other critical facilities.
- Experience managing maintenance and continuous improvement programs.
- Experience leading building controls and automation projects.
- Experience in developing secure systems and comprehensive security programs.
