The Manager of Social & Support Services is an experienced social worker to lead a team in providing comprehensive family and caregiver support for individuals requiring higher levels of assistance. This role involves leveraging the specialised skills of social workers to help families navigate the challenges of caregiving and support individuals in living and learning effectively.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and Develop Services: Direct the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a tiered system of services, maximising the clinical skill sets of social workers to deliver tailored support to caregivers. This may involve managing complex cases that require coordinated efforts from various specialists to ensure holistic support.
  • Collaborate with Allied Professionals: Work with allied health professionals (including psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists) to develop comprehensive support strategies for clients, with an emphasis on strengthening caregiver support and capacity.
  • Supervise and Guide Team: Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to social workers to enhance the quality of family support services. Lead the team in managing admissions, referrals, and guiding families through available community resources.
  • Community Networking: Build and maintain partnerships with other agencies (e.g., Family Service Centres, Social Service Offices, CDCs, and specialist organisations) to establish a support network, connecting families with resources and services across the community.
  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with organisational leaders, including the CEO and heads of relevant departments, to design and implement advanced caregiver support systems, ensuring structures are responsive to complex caregiving needs.
  • Departmental Administration: Oversee the administrative functions of the department and ensure efficient operation.

Requirements:

  • Registered social worker with at least 6 years of relevant experience (preferably within the disability sector), and a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership and clinical supervision abilities to guide and develop a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
