Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction of the organization. This role involves providing strategic insights to support business growth, managing financial risks, and ensuring the company’s financial health while overseeing the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure effective allocation of resources and alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the organization is well-positioned to handle uncertainties.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with investors, board members, and other key stakeholders to communicate financial performance and strategic direction.
  • Team Oversight: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze financial performance metrics to provide insights that drive operational improvements and profitability.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Evaluate potential business opportunities, conducting high-level assessments to inform strategic decisions regarding mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships.
  • Cash Flow Management: Ensure effective cash flow management strategies are in place to support operational needs while optimizing returns on investments.

Qualifications

  • Education: MBA in Finance. Certifications such as CPA or CFA are advantageous.
  • Experience: At least 7 to 10 years of experience in finance roles, ideally with exposure to corporate strategy and M&A. Previous experience in the maritime sector is preferred.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on driving business growth through financial insights.

He or she should possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to convey complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders. They must be strategic thinkers who can influence decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. Given the fast-paced nature of the industry, adaptability and agility are essential traits for success in this role. This position is critical in shaping the company’s future by aligning financial strategy with business objectives while ensuring robust oversight of financial operations.
