Reporting to CEO of ECON Healthcare Group, the Principal Medical Social Worker will lead the Social Services Department at Econ Healthcare Group as Head, Social Services, overseeing a dedicated team of social workers and support staff. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive social services, financial counselling, and advisory support to residents and their next of kin (NOKs). The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality social work services, fostering a compassionate environment, and promoting the well-being of all residents.
Leadership and Strategic Planning
- Provide visionary leadership to the Social Services Department by establishing short- and long-term strategic goals that align with the organizational mission.
- Lead and manage the Social Services Department, providing guidance and support to a team of social workers and support staff.
- Conduct regular supervision and performance evaluations to foster professional growth and development among team members.
- Participate in the development of policies and protocols to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices in social service delivery.
Programme Development and Implementation
- Develop, implement, and evaluate social service programmes that address the needs of residents and their NOKs.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in social work and adjust programmes accordingly to meet evolving resident needs.
Specialised Skills and Multidisciplinary Collaboration
The Principal Medical Social Worker will be responsible for several specialised clinical interventions that enhance overall client care. This includes comprehensive case management, where the incumbent will conduct psycho-social and financial assessments to understand the multifaceted needs of residents and their families. The social worker will implement targeted interventions that may involve crisis intervention, emotional support, and connection to community resources.
Additionally, the role requires providing specialised clinical skills in areas such as grief counselling and mental health support. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team—including healthcare providers, therapists, and family members—will be essential to develop and implement holistic care plans that prioritize the safety and well-being of residents. This collaborative approach ensures that all aspects of a resident's health and social environment are addressed, leading to improved outcomes and quality of life.
Resident Assessment and Support
- Conduct assessments to identify residents’ and families' social, emotional, and financial needs, creating tailored intervention plans.
- Provide financial counselling and advisories, assisting residents and their families in navigating financial resources, government assistance, and social support services.
Collaboration and Advocacy
- Collaborate with our Centre Managers and their care team and external agencies to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
- Advocate for resident needs within the organisation and the community, working to enhance the social welfare system.
Training and Development
- Conduct training and professional development workshops for the social services team to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Mentor junior social workers and support staff to cultivate a supportive and knowledgeable team environment.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Data Analytics
- Monitor and evaluate service outcomes using both qualitative and quantitative methods to measure effectiveness.
- Leverage data analytics to track trends in resident needs and service utilization, using insights to inform strategic decisions and optimize program delivery.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports related to service delivery, compliance with regulatory requirements, and performance metrics.
Requirements
- A recognised Degree in Social Work or Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent, from a recognised institution
- Accreditation as Registered Social Worker with the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) is required
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Medical Social Services with a proven track record in leadership roles managing a team of social workers.
- Strong understanding of social services, financial counselling, and resource availability in Singapore.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
