Job Description
As an English Debating Teacher, you will:
l Design and deliver engaging debate lessons tailored to high school students with varying levels of English proficiency.
l Introduce students to fundamental debating skills, including argument construction, rebuttal techniques, and persuasive speaking.
l Facilitate practice debates on a variety of topics, encouraging critical thinking and respect for different viewpoints.
l Provide individualized feedback to help students improve their speaking skills, critical analysis, and teamwork.
l Develop materials, exercises, and interactive activities to support students’ learning and skill-building.
l Foster a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel motivated to participate and grow.
Requirements
l Native English speaker with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Communications, or a related field.
l Experience teaching debate or public speaking to high school students, especially non-native English speakers.
l Strong communication skills, with an ability to engage and motivate students of all backgrounds.
l Creativity in designing lesson plans that cater to students with varied English language skills.
l Patience and adaptability, with a student-centered approach to teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
l Prior experience in competitive debate (as a coach or participant) is a plus.
l Knowledge of educational psychology or experience teaching in multicultural settings is highly valued.
