Job Overview:
A Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. They manage and coordinate construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Coordination:Develop and review project plans, schedules, and timelines.
Coordinate and manage the flow of information and materials.Monitor progress to ensure projects are on track and adjust schedules or resources as necessary.
- Supervision of Work:Supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure tasks are completed as per the project’s specifications.Ensure adherence to safety regulations, local building codes, and quality standards.Perform regular site inspections to monitor progress and address issues promptly.
- Budget & Resource Management:Assist with the development of project budgets and manage resources effectively.Order and schedule materials, tools, and equipment needed for the project.Track project expenses and report on costs to avoid budget overruns.
- Quality Control:Inspect and verify the quality of work performed.Address defects, rework, or incomplete tasks to meet project specifications.Ensure work is performed in compliance with all legal, safety, and environmental standards.
- Safety & Compliance:Enforce safety protocols on the job site to prevent accidents and injuries.Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure all workers are trained in safety practices.Ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and other regulatory standards.
- Communication & Reporting:Act as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders (owners, architects, engineers, etc.).Prepare daily and weekly reports on progress, challenges, and accomplishments.
Communicate any delays, changes, or issues that may arise during the construction process.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:Address and resolve construction-related issues that arise on-site.
Manage unforeseen problems and come up with solutions to minimize delays.Adjust plans as necessary to meet project goals and timelines.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 3-7 years of experience in construction, including supervisory roles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to spend extended hours on construction sites, including exposure to weather elements.
- Physical stamina to walk, stand, and inspect construction areas for long periods.
- Occasional lifting or carrying materials and tools may be required.
