Job Summary
The Marine Surveyor / Senior Surveyor is responsible for conducting inspections and surveys of merchant ships, marine structures and marine equipment to ensure compliance with classification rules, international conventions and other statutory requirements. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including shipowners, technical managers, flag administrations and various regulatory bodies, to uphold industry standards and enhance safety.
Working Conditions
The role involves working in challenging environments on board vessels, require physical climb of ship ladders during embarkation at anchorages and inspection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs routine surveys and inspections of vessels, marine structures and marine equipment, to evaluate their condition and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.
- Liaises with clients and various stakeholders to resolve problems within areas of expertise.
- Stays updated on relevant maritime laws and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field; or COC Class 1/2 (MEO).
- Experience with IACS member as MMS auditor would be an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in marine surveying, engineering or related roles within the maritime or shipbuilding industry.
- Ability to understand the requirements of class rules, maritime regulations, and different international standards.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel abroad for work on short notice and outside normal working hours.
