The Risk Control and Compliance Officer plays a key role in ensuring that all trading activities within the oil trading business adhere to regulatory requirements, industry practices, and internal policies. The officer will have a strong focus on Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance to mitigate the risks associated with trading in the commodity market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing KYC checks for onboarding new clients, suppliers, and counterparties involved in oil trading activities. Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct vessel vetting to verify that vessels meet company standards for safety, compliance, and operational suitability.
- Maintain organized records and ensure that KYC files are readily accessible for audits and compliance checks.
- Offer support to the Trading teams on compliance-related contractual clauses applicable to both physical and derivatives trading.
- Support the identification and assessment of market, credit, and operational risks within the company’s trading activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks, ensuring that the company operates within its established risk tolerance.
- Assist in external reviews and audits.
- Carry out and support other duties assigned by the Company.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Law, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk control, compliance, or KYC role, ideally within the oil trading sector.
- Candidates with experience in using risk management systems (such as CTRM) are preferred.
- Strong understanding of KYC regulations and the oil trading sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, and investigate potential issues.Proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain trust and integrity within a team.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is preferred.
