Job Summary:
The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of key technology projects that align with business objectives, acting as a primary liaison between the business and technical teams. This role involves effective vendor management, ensuring quality, timely, and cost-effective solutions from external partners. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in project management, coding, and technology solutions, with a strategic approach to overseeing vendor contributions and tech deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
• Vendor Management:
• Oversee and coordinate with external vendors to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Monitor vendor performance, addressing any issues that impact project delivery, and maintain strong communication channels.
• Review and assess vendor deliverables for quality, compliance, and effectiveness.
• Project Delivery:
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects, from requirements gathering through to completion.
• Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business needs into actionable technical requirements.
• Track project progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Stakeholder Management:
• Serve as the primary business contact for tech-related initiatives, understanding the needs of various stakeholders and ensuring they are incorporated into project scope and design.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, presenting updates, project milestones, and potential challenges.
• Technical Insight:
• Leverage a foundational understanding of software development, including coding, to inform decisions and effectively communicate with technical teams.
• While not directly responsible for front-end or back-end development, the IT Project Manager should have a working knowledge of both to understand requirements and evaluate solutions.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and vendor agreements.
• Provide regular status updates to senior management, highlighting key metrics, milestones, and any areas of concern.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in IT project management, including hands-on vendor management.
• Strong understanding of software development processes, with foundational coding knowledge.
• Proven experience in managing technology projects, ideally in a multi-vendor environment.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar is a plus.
Working Conditions:
