KEY ACCOUNTABILITY (Main purpose of this job):
The successful incumbent will play a leading role as a Speech Language Therapist within the multi-disciplinary working team in guiding children to enhance and maximize their developmental growth potential while minimizing the onset of secondary disabilities. The Speech-language Therapist works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication needs for students in partnership with our academic staff and families.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Key areas of responsibility):
Programme Development:
- Work in partnership and collaborate with relevant parties (e.g. learning support educators, preschool teachers, parents/caregivers, etc)
- Design systems from referral to exit to serve students with speech and language needs in conjunction with learning support, primary and secondary school teachers and administration, admissions, and finance
- Draft policies and procedures for Speech and Language including flow charts from referral to exit, necessary meetings and exit criteria, etc.
Intervention & Support:
- Provide intervention for children who present with receptive and/or expressive language difficulties (e.g. spoken language, limited vocabulary, speech sound difficulties, social communication difficulties) by implementing and monitoring individualized or group sessions to support students’ individual goals
- Actively participate in the Learner Success Team to support teacher concerns with student progress
- Conduct, score and interpret specialized speech and language assessments in language, literacy, and communication to identify students’ needs
- Conceptualise intervention goals and develop support plans based on students’ needs
- Adjust individualised learning plans in accordance with student progression
- Report assessment and intervention outcomes (e.g. Individualised Learning Plan (ILP) and End-of-intervention reports to families and teachers
Coaching & Support:
- Consult and counsel with academic staff to implement Tier 1 supports for students requiring Speech and Language services
- Design and facilitate internal training programmes for relevant staff, parents/caregivers/families
- Contribute to the development of early intervention resources for relevant staff, parents/caregivers/ families
Leadership & Management:
- Refer students, when appropriate, to additional educational or medical services
- Provide documentation and partnership to support billing & finance and insurance for students on the speech caseload
- Undertake and perform any other executive work assigned
- Full registration with the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast paced work environment

REQUIREMENTS (Job/Person):
Required Qualifications
- Possess a Degree in Speech and language Therapy or related programme recognized by MOH in Speech Therapy
- Candidate who possess a Masters in Speech & Language Therapist would have an added advantage
- Has registered (Full/Conditional) with Allied Health Professions Council in Singapore
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably with children
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Meticulous, Analytical and Adaptable
- Able to work independently and also a team player
- Passionate in working with children with special needs
