Job Summary
We seek a talented, experienced Architect to join our aviation-focused consultancy team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design, particularly within aviation or large-scale public infrastructure environments, and will bring expertise in delivering design solutions that align with the unique requirements of airport and aviation facilities. This role requires a creative, detail-oriented professional capable of developing efficient, sustainable, and innovative design concepts that enhance user experience, streamline operational efficiency, and meet regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Conceptual Design and Development
- Develop conceptual and final architectural designs, focusing on functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing solutions tailored to aviation environments.
- Work closely with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, planners, and contractors, to develop creative solutions that align with project goals and client vision.
· Project Management and Coordination
- Lead and manage design projects of various scales, from small renovations to large-scale airport expansions and new facilities.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, to ensure that all designs are functional, compliant, and buildable.
- Prepare detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring projects meet both quality and regulatory standards.
· Technical Documentation and Compliance
- Develop detailed architectural drawings, models, and specifications using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) and maintain comprehensive design documentation.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, building codes, ADA standards, and sustainability requirements.
- Review technical documents for accuracy and compliance, including drawings, calculations, and specifications, and address any inconsistencies or issues promptly.
· Stakeholder Engagement and Client Communication
- Conduct client presentations and communicate design intent effectively to stakeholders, integrating feedback into designs as required.
- Collaborate with airport authorities, regulatory agencies, and consultants to ensure designs align with operational and safety requirements.
· Innovation and Sustainability
- Integrate sustainable design practices to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance the environmental footprint of aviation facilities.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in airport design, contributing innovative ideas and solutions to the team.
· Construction Administration
- Oversee project construction phases, ensuring adherence to design specifications, and troubleshoot issues as they arise on site.
- Conduct site visits and coordinate with contractors to confirm that construction aligns with design and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 5+ years of architectural experience, with at least 2 years in aviation or large-scale public infrastructure environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other industry-standard design software.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of aviation regulations, safety standards, building codes, IATA ADRM compliance, and sustainable design principles.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex design ideas clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
- Project Management: Proven experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects, from design through construction phases.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with airport-specific challenges, including passenger flow, security screening requirements, and airside/landside interface.
- Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) in aviation projects.
- LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design certifications.
