Company Overview:

We are looking for a seasoned Accounting Manager to join my client who is a leading food and agribusiness. This role will oversee the full range of accounting and financial control functions for several business units within their diversified portfolio. This role will involve managing teams, ensuring financial compliance, and driving the performance of accounting processes across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead accounting teams for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of full-set financial statements.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial, management, and group reports, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Manage statutory and internal audits, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and safeguarding against audit lapses.
  • Ensure proper compliance with direct and indirect tax obligations, including overseeing tax filings, responding to queries, and managing transfer pricing documentation.
  • Approve and monitor payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance financial integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS standards and group accounting policies while complying with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead ad-hoc special projects, such as commercial feasibility assessments, CAPEX budgeting, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and working capital efficiency reviews, including inventory and receivables management.
  • Identify and leverage available tax incentives, government grants, and funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury team on banking, cash flow management, forex exposures, and financing strategies for international subsidiaries.
  • Provide senior management with insights through operational analysis, supporting key decision-making processes.
  • Work closely with risk and operations teams to manage trade-related financial activities and exposures.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and tools to streamline operations and enhance business performance.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • A qualified professional (ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent) with a solid grounding in accounting principles and standards.
  • Min. 10-12 years of relevant experience, including working experience in commodity trading or processing sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS and local company law, with hands-on experience in financial compliance.
  • Practical understanding of transfer pricing regulations, particularly in cross-border supply chain operations.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proactive and results-focused with strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and drive initiatives forward independently.
