Science Laboratory Assistant

This advertisement is recruiting for the position of Science Laboratory Assistant.

If successfully selected, you will be seconded to MOE primary school located in Geylang East.

Contract Period: from 1 January 2025 to 30 November 2025

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

  • Mondays to Fridays: 8:00am to 1:30pm, not inclusive of lunch break
  • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

The service required are set out as follows :

  • Prepare Science teaching & learning resources based on:
  1. Workbook requirements
  2. Teaching needs e.g. pull out plant model display when the P3s are learning about plants to be showcased in the lab
  • Maintain cleanliness of the two labs and the equipment
  • Arrange for feeding of the fish in the aquaponics system (both indoor and outdoor), pond at eco-garden
  • Stock-take of equipment at least twice a year
  • Assist in the inventory taking when the external audit asset team comes by
  • Assist teachers in the lab during lab sessions if required
  • Assist teachers in innovative learning lab for Science-related activities whenever possible including setting up of projector to play video in canteen during recess time
  • Assist teachers in preparation of activities for Environmental and Science club
  • Look into the display and loaning of Science books to the students on an ad-hoc basis, either in lab or in the canteen
  • Help to assist in recess activities during Science department events such as integrated learning week
  • Help to assist during Science practical test days, will be required to work longer on some days in Term 2 to prepare and to assist during the days. (Up till 2:30pm, 2 – 3 days prior and after the practical test days)

Must be confident in handling live specimens e.g. changing and clean of live stick insect tanks / changing leaves stalks for live caterpillars.

The personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Min GCE ‘O’ or ‘A’ Level
  • Have experience working in similar work environment (prior working experience in a school will be an added advantage)
