Job Responsibilities:
1. TBM Operation Oversight
- Supervise and manage all mechanical aspects of TBM operations.
- Ensure the proper assembly, disassembly, and commissioning of TBMs on-site.
- Monitor TBM performance metrics and identify areas for optimization.
2. Maintenance and Repairs
- Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance schedules for TBM mechanical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and coordinate prompt repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts and consumables.
3. Team Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to the mechanical team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any team concerns.
4. Safety and Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry regulations and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate hazards during TBM operations and maintenance activities.
5. Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with the project management team to align TBM operations with project schedules and milestones.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as electrical and geotechnical teams, to ensure seamless operations.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on TBM mechanical performance, maintenance activities, and downtime analysis.
6. Equipment Optimization
- Oversee modifications and upgrades to TBM mechanical systems to enhance performance.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies or methodologies to improve efficiency.
7. Documentation and Record-Keeping
- Maintain detailed logs of TBM maintenance, repairs, and performance data.
- Ensure documentation is accurate and accessible for auditing and reporting purposes.
Job Requirements:
1. Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in tunneling or TBM operations (preferred).
2. Experience
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in TBM mechanical operations and maintenance.
- Proven experience in leadership roles on large tunneling projects.
3. Technical Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of TBM mechanical systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and TBM operating manuals.
- Familiarity with different TBM types (EPB, Slurry Shield, Hard Rock, etc.) and associated equipment.
4. Leadership Skills
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and best practices in tunneling operations.
- Experience conducting safety training and enforcing compliance.
6. Other Skills
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, team members, and contractors.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (preferred).
- Willingness to travel and work in challenging environments.
