Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery and troubleshoot any OTN-related issues.
- Troubleshooting of Optical devices such as Ciena 6500 and Infinera GX40 in Hut, PoPs and Datacenter.
- Handle dark fiber maintenance and any other queries raised by OSP
- Day-to-day activities involve working on multiple vendor troubleshooting various software and hardware issues
- Support team in handling optical devices for any incidents such as hardware failure, power outage, major fiber event and etc.
- Coordinate with smart hands and optical equipment manufacturers to resolve issues and restore service.
- Work with ISP/vendors on fixing any issues related to the network, such as RMA process and fiber repair.
- Knowledgeable on performing and reading the analysis/outcome of the OTDR testing.
- Monitor Optical Long Haul and Metro networks and troubleshoot a variety of issues in a timely manner.Perform fault isolation based on the troubleshooting outcome.
- Partner with and escalate to, various internal teams in pursuant of restoring service and limiting impact.Manage and escalate critical events while communicating clearly and concisely.
- Document and optimize operational processes and procedures.Contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, dashboards and metrics to drive continuous improvements.
- Document and follow RMA processes and procedures for all relevant vendors.
- Work cross-functionally and cross-regionally with other optical and network operational support teams. Some weekend work may be required.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 2 to 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Builds productive internal and external working relationships.
- Understanding of fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs around the world
- Working knowledge of ROADM, coherent transponders and long-haul operation optical networks
- Understanding of Optical layer (L0/L1) traffic reliability configurations using Protection and/or Restoration schemes including pros/cons
- Knowledge on DWDM device, its component and familiar with the CLI command.
- Knowledge of Dark fiber testing and light level testing.
- Knowledge of Network and Networking protocols.
