As an Outside Broadcast (OB) Cable Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the preparation and deployment of OB cables for event coverage, primarily in sports.
This position provides an excellent platform to learn about rigging for broadcasting events and opportunity to travel with the crew after a couple of years of experience. No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide training to handle and prepare the various types of cables and rigging to support our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the OB Cable Team to prepare cabling requirements for outgoing shipments to all projects.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain cables from returning shipments post projects.
- Recoiling and packing of cables on drums, palletizing drums, and storing pallets on designated shelves.
- Test and prepare camera cables (SMPTE, Triax camera), audio looms cables and all engineering cables in general require for the interconnect and interfacing of broadcast equipment.
- Carry out fiber splicing, including using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment, such as fusion splicer, power meter, and OTDR.
- Inspect fiber optic cables to ensure no defects that could undermine signal strength and performance and repair or re-splice damaged fiber if required.
- Test and prepare various audio, video, and power cables.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic and a team player.
- Physically able to lift up to 20kg or more.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
- Willingness to work in a warehouse environment.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Certificate to work at height is a plus.
