As the Family Support Officer, you will be responsible to implement initiatives to strengthen attendance and social support for children and their families. This includes monitoring and analysing attendance records and other data to identify those requiring more support, engaging and building strong rapport with the parents, and working closely with them to identify and overcome barriers to improving attendance. You are to also work closely with various Social Service Agencies to ensure the children and their families receive the social support required.
Job Role & Responsibilities
- Carry out regular and effective engagements with parents:To plan ahead engagement strategies and carry out engagements with parents of identified children. You are to also assist the parents in carrying out action plans to overcome barriers to regular school attendance, working with the preschool teachers and other community agencies where useful. To propose and work closely with other departments on the development of necessary materials and resources to support preschool attendance, parenting and provide better social support to children.
- Case management and monitoring:To keep track of progress of all cases, reviewing and calibrating strategies in working with parents for better school attendance. To adopt a systems approach in identifying barriers to better school attendance, and work closely with the teachers and other community agencies to address them. To refer and/or work closely with other Social Support Agencies to ensure the children and their family receive the social support needed.
- To work closely with community agencies:To work closely with community and Social Service Agencies to provide holistic social support to children and their families in the course of working with them to improve school attendance.
- Data management and Reporting:To regularly monitor attendance records of children in E-Bridge centres and identify children for close follow up and case management to improve attendance. To prepare regular reports of cases and attendance tracking for discussions with supervisor and management. To support the department in meeting any reporting, service delivery requirements and submission of progress reports.
- Reviewing of initiatives and strategies to support the learning and social needs of children:To support the department in regular reviews of programmes, initiatives and strategies to ensure the learning and social needs of children. To assist in the implementation of new programmes and initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Diploma/degree in Social Work with minimum two years of experience working with families in a social community setting/preschool;
- Preferably be registered as a member with the Singapore Association of Social Workers
