Position:
Mainframe Infrastructure, Batch & Release Management Project Lead
Job Description:
Perform required actions to build-out the mainframe infrastructure environment to support the development,
testing, and validation of all legacy and new development.
Support the COB test, execute and recovery activities.
Implement day-to-day mainframe support requirements (post-build) for online and batch activities across all
legacy and new development environments. Support Development, Conversion, Pre-IST, IST, UAT, Stress,
PAT and Production; code and data release across all Environments.
Execution of release management for all new development releases across all Mainframe environments.
Maintain all release management documentation and procedures.
Support all production and non-production releases using ERO and Changeman.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Assemble mainframe usage statistics and prepare trend analysis for weekly reporting.
• Attend scheduled meeting representing the infrastructure team and share meeting minutes on regular basis.
• Driving daily, weekly and Monthly call with client to share the operational status, discuss major /
upcoming activities and automation opportunities.
• Coordination implementation activities with Developers, Operations and CTI.
• Create and execute the CHG, REQ, Incidents, CREQ and EPR tickets.
• Must have proven record in Handling CICS, NDM, MQ Security Privilege IDs, and database set-up activities.
• Perform environmental requirements to Implement the Phase Plan requirements for Development, Pre-IST, IST,
UAT, PAT and Production environments.
• Maintain up-to-date environmental diagrams including all application components.
• Perform CICS refresh request based on Request with necessary approval.
• Participation in yearly DR and other major activities.
• Strong IT Knowledge and understanding of IT operational environment is must.
• Execute all code promotion across all environments outside of Development.
• Execute all production release activities.
• Execute the COB test plan, COB implementation plan and COB recovery plan. In addition, record testing results,
and leading corrective actions from any tests/implementations.
• Execution of overall Release Management procedures and support of ChangeMan ERO solution.
• Perform scheduled change to all the supported LPARS and Maintain comprehensive Infrastructure Document,
Component list and diagrams.
• Obtain release management usage statistics and provide input for trend analysis with weekly reporting.
• Primary implementer for all Mainframe RFCs.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure,
integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions, Work with
teams on process
improvement and produce necessary metrics to show progress.
• Support all Release Management COB plan execution during testing and actual implementation.
• Track all required environment changes/Post build/ release management changes and ensure consistency.

• Update & maintain environmental configuration documentation/diagrams including all application components.
• Coordinate with PMO/Testing team for updating calendar Id and Run period.
• Should be able to handle Loop Checks process, Variable Table updates, Release, Hold, ETT, SETA and Special
resources.
• Environment Support for Refresh and Conversion Load activities.
• Ensuring all critical batch streams like nightly batch etc completes on time, Proper resolution should be shared
to respective groups.
• Release batch with adherence to SLA.
• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well
as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
• Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes,
system processes, and industry standards
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design
adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and
implementation.
• Help teams implement value stream mapping and prioritization of countermeasures, based on DevOps/Agile/Lean
principles in order to achieve specific measurable results.
• Be a part of a DevOps Enablement team, helping multiple cross-functional delivery teams with the adoption
of DevOps cultural and technical practices.
• Perform ad hoc duties as requested as requested by Manager.
• Ensure all SLAs are achieved.
Skills Required:
• 15+ years of hands-on working experience with IBM Mainframe MVS/ZOS environments as a Developer/Infra
Admin/Batch Monitoring and Support role.
• Experience with TSO, CICS, COBOL, SAS, JCL, DB2, VSAM, Xpeditor, Fileaid, ChangeMan, InfoMan, and
Batch Scheduling using TWS.
• Should be an expert in Rexx and Clist to automate environment activities spread across 30+ Mainframe Lpars.
Must have developed tools that’s are highly CPU efficient.
• Must have good hands on experience with release tools ERO and Changeman.
• Must have experience working on storage products that involves creation of files that are replicated across
environments and Lpars in Bulk. Must have handled different file types and should be capable to
move/copy/delete/Define files from one environment to another in bulk. Should be capable to find a
supporting solutions for any variations.
• Should have experience with Mainframe CICD tools. Must have worked as an Admin for RTC and
Bitbucket source code management tools.
• Should have experience with Mass DB2 Load Unload activities, should have experience in handling issue
with DB2 failures.
• Must have experience working with Numerous CICS regions. Must have handled Mass changes for CICS CSD
definitions, File issues. Short on storage and other abends. Must have written scripts to automate CICS
shutdown and Startup routine to align with Batch.
• Must have knowledge on security setup definition of Both RACF and Topsecret for FID, CICS FIDs, NDM ID, DB2,
Individual access. Must have worked on initial setup for environment.
• Must have experience working with Spufi, IOF, SAR, CA-View and its products to fetch and gather details like
CPU, executing timings, Failures, Abends, Authorization and other issues.
• Must have worked on transmission products like NDM, MQ, FTP. Should be aware of various terminology
and setup required for each of these products. Should have worked on a team than had dealt with
building environments with cross platform teams with the mentioned products.
• Must have worked on Service now tool as a group owner/Admin, Should have knowledge on Creating,
Deleting, Cloning, granting access for ServiceNow group. Should have experience in creating Ctask, INC, REQ,
CREQ and EPR tools.
• Must have good Experience in Scheduling and execution of various batches in cross Lpar configuration
using TWS scheduler.
• Previous experience managing deliverables against tight deadlines and incomplete requirements.
• Strong Experience in Excel, capability to develop excel macro to automate and tune manual tasks.
• Should have experience in working with ticketing tools like Service Now, RFC, EPR, CREQ, Infoman,
SBM-RLC tools.
• Extensive experience using IBM compatible computers running Windows XP operating system or higher with
Microsoft Office suite (Office 2003 or higher including Outlook). Prefer Microsoft Visio experience.
Additional Skills:
• Must have experience in preparation of BOM document.
• It requires to provide evidence of the experience in handling large complex parallel sysplex and CICSplex
mainframe lpars.
• Excellent Written, verbal communication and outstanding problem solving skills.
• Must have dealt customers from various geographies US, UK, Australia and Asian countries.
• Experience building strong, effective teams maintaining impeccable performance.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly in high stress situations for High visibility
and critical incidents involving
technology experts and business units SME’s
