Public Equities (EQ)
We generate sustainable, superior returns through active investments across global equity markets. Strategies include total return strategies, absolute return strategies, and relative return strategies. Our long-term orientation and strong relationships with corporates provide us with opportunities to capitalize on market volatility to deliver strong investment performance.
The Global Emerging Markets (GEM) team invests in companies operating in Emerging markets. Combining top-down macro views and bottom-up stock analysis, we seek to uncover companies that are exposed to structural emerging market growth drivers. While we cover all emerging markets, we have particularly strong on-the-ground expertise in Latin America, Emerging Europe, and the Middle East, where we have been investing for more than a decade.

This will be 2-year fixed-term programmatic hire (with full employment terms & benefits).
What will you do as a Equities Investment Analyst?
- Sector Coverage: Conduct in-depth research to thoroughly understand companies within GEM Energy, Materials & Utilities sectors. Provide differentiated insights and recommendations to the lead portfolio manager to inform investment decisions
- Commodity market research: Perform thorough fundamental analysis of commodities to identify investment opportunities and turning points, with a focus on the medium to long term. Analyze currency, political and regulatory risks.
- Company analysis: Employ intensive, bottom-up fundamental research to drive the investment process which will help form differentiated views. Build models at the industry and company level. Formulate investment ideas, conduct financial modeling and valuation analysis, write up investment theses and discuss findings with colleagues
- Risk Management: Implement robust risk management practices, regularly assessing the risk-reward profile of all investments. Stay vigilant regarding market conditions, potential risks, and their economic impact on portfolio holdings
- Collaboration: Work within a highly collaborative global team environment, sharing and absorbing insights that can enhance investment strategies. Actively participate in regular discussions about market trends and developments, contributing to the collective expertise of our team and company. Build strong trusting relationships internally with colleagues and externally with company management teams
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. Conduct portfolio management activities with the highest standards of ethics and integrity
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in deep-dive investment analysis in Equities, preferably within an institutional investment setting. Existing sectorial expertise in Resources (Energy, Materials & Utilities sectors) would be advantageous
- Passion & Alignment: Passion for equity investing and philosophical alignment with the team’s approach. Desire to succeed in an intellectually intense environment. Possess scholarly curiosity, a passion for creative analysis and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to think broadly and creatively about a range of strategic issues affecting a business
- Quantitative Skills: Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to utilize financial modeling and analytical tools to build models for companies on a bottom-up basis. Excel proficiency is expected
- Independent thinking: Unconventional and independent thinking. Willingness to challenge conventional wisdom. Comfortable with taking well-reasoned contrarian views when appropriate. Openness to changing your mind when theses do not play out as anticipated
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate complex investment ideas clearly and effectively. Collaborative mindset with a strong desire to learn from and contribute to a team environment. Receptiveness to constructive feedback and willingness to engage in reasoned debate with colleagues
- Ethics and Professionalism: Unwavering commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, maintaining a focus on long-term objectives
